Gorbachev, Indio Solari and Lopez Rega cross paths in the story of the preacher who, from the mountains of Mendoza to the streets of Bombay, founded a silent spiritual movement without borders.
The autumn sun rebounded off the snow and rocks of Punta de Vacas, a valley encircled by rivers in the lower Andes. It was three in the afternoon on May 4, 1969 when 200 young people who had rejected the two options with the greatest calling power at the time – the rifle and the guitar – experienced a moment of initiation in their lives. An athletic figure descended from the mountain. Dressed in a white parka and pants, he carried a metallic rod in his right hand. He stopped, looked around, was silent for five seconds, and spoke. It wasn’t the beginning anyone expected: “If you have come to listen to a man who it is thought transmits wisdom, you have mistaken your way, for true wisdom is not communicated through books or speeches – true wisdom is found in the depths of your consciousness, just as true love is found in the depths of your heart.”
